Title of the project:

Fixed Point for Ferencváros

Purpose of the program to be supported:

We will continue to work for a more liveable, diverse, friendly neighbourhood through fundraising, grant distribution, and community development. The focus of our work continues to be on strengthening the role of the local “bridge” that connects local private and corporate donors, NGOs and informal communities. We can be a sourdough of Ferencváros, which is often unnoticed, but without it the life of the district would be less round. For example by hosting Swimathon for the sixth time this year, mobilizing thousands of people for good causes and drawing attention to the importance of donating, civic courage and social solidarity.

The need / problem the project offers a solution for:

Nothing proves the legitimacy of our business more credibly than the thousands of private donors and dozens of corporate sponsors who have helped us, local organizations and affairs in the years behind us. The support provided by the FKA means more than financial funding; and this is not something we claim, but told by all those district actors we work with. Continuing this catalytic, professional work after the pandemic, in the shadow of the imminent war and in a really difficult economic situation, is a challenge that makes it exponentially difficult to raise the operating costs of Hungary’s first community foundation, despite the 10 successful years behind us.

Planned activities in the project, and the expected schedule:

Our plans for this year, in addition to Swimathon, include a Crisis Support Grant Application Call for civil communities in the district that provide assistance to refugees from Ukraine locally. We already have a more serious resource for this financial fund, but the responsible distribution of money is also a big task and demands a coordinated staff work.
We want to continue last year’s first and very successful community Hackathon this year – a 48-hour brainstorming initiative – as we prepare three worthy teams again for our Live Giving fundraising evening in November.
We are also working on the development of a mobile application that can bring real impetus and freshness to business and non-profit relationships as a pilot project. We will use the support we hope for to pay for the professional staff and to maintain our rented office, and to develop and operate additional forms of fundraising and fund distribution.

Planned budget of the project, in brief (cost types and amounts):

The monthly operational cost of FKA is currently HUF 1,020,000, which includes the fees of a 3-member staff, the discounted office rent, overheads, bank charges, and the accounting fee. All this alone could not bring about such a result without the regular voluntary work within the foundation. Traditionally, the most active volunteers in our organization are the 7 curators currently on the board.

Intended use of the support collected at Swimathon:

We would like to raise HUF 2.5 million at Swimathon, which is the operating cost of our foundation for 2.5 months at the moment. The support will be spent entirely on these costs to ensure quality professional work.

What impact is expected from the implementation of the project and how will it be measured?

Over the past 10 years, we have provided nearly HUF 120 million in support to 72 district-related cases / projects, thanks to our donors.
The efficiency of our social investments is also shown by the latest Swimathon 2021 campaign, adapted and organized by us, in which almost 12 times the organizational costs and expenses were collected, i.e. the multiplier and mobilizing effects of the event were unquestionable. If not always at this ratio, but we are looking for this multiplier effect in all our activities.
At the same time, the feedbacks dearest to our hearts come from the supported organizations and donors who work with us: “If there is a problem, we can always count on the FKA.” – Kustár Blanka, Anyahajó Egyesület (Mother Ship Association). “For us, FKA was the company’s eye and hand in the district” – Zsolt Czibere, British Petrol

Name and objective of the NGO implementing the project:

The aim of our foundation is to mobilize the people, workers and students living in Ferencváros for a more liveable, lovable district, to improve the well-being of the locals and for strengthening their common identity. Our main tasks during the 11 years – since 2011 – have been collecting donations from local individuals and business partners, distributing support to local civilians, and organizing community-building events, with our own programs and the domestic adaptation of already successful community donation programs from around the world.
